Finally India has launched its own so claimed cheapest computer tablet in the world. Online booking of the tablet “Aakash” has started and achieved about 400,000 orders from individuals and corporate.
After Aakash, the manufacturing company DataWind has announced a new tablet which is being called the commercial version of Aakash. This new version is made-in China and called UbiSlate 7. It will be available in market in late January 2012, but the pre-booking has started from now.
Both tablets doesn’t differ more in configuration and thus in price. Aakash is available for ₹ 2500 while UbiSlate for ₹ 2999. But the later has a new version OS, faster processor and more powerful battery.

There is also a news that Aakash-2 will be released in 2012. A built in camera and a 1GB RAM are expected in Aakash-2. It will also enable users to download videos from YouTube. Meantime, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has also announced the plan to launch LTE(4G) Tablet pricing between ₹ 3500-5000, with low cost internet service enabled.
