The Software House, Microsoft has surprisingly redesigned the logo for its for its upcoming Windows 8 OS. Now, while starting your brand new Win 8 PC, you won’t see the old multicolored waving flag which continuously evolved over the years since 1992.
The news was shared in a blog post by Sam Moreau, Principal Director of User Experience for Windows. He wrote, “Nothing has been left unexplored, including the Windows logo, to evaluate how it held up to modern PC sensibilities.”
Why Microsoft Redesigned the logo?
The new simple monochromatic logo reflects the tile-based interface of Windows 8 and the whole Metro look that Microsoft is being adopting across its consumer products.
“We wanted the new logo to be both modern and classic by echoing the International Typographic Style (or Swiss design) that has been a great influence on our Metro style design philosophy. Using bold flat colors and clean lines and shapes, the new logo has the characteristics of way-finding design systems seen in airports and subways,” Sam wrote.
I personally, like the new logo and the great job done by Pentagram design team. The logo is surprisingly modern. However I can feel what other people are thinking. Let me share one of the comment I found on a blog,”I wasn’t a fan of Steve Jobs, but there’s a video of him saying something that is really accurate: that Microsoft has terrible taste.”
Anyway, I’m really going to miss the glowing cross of Windows 7. And you?
