We generally have a common computer at home that we share with brothers, sisters and other family members. Everyone wants to keep their bookmarks, themes, and settings as per choice. Sometimes bachelors living in hostel even share a common computer for their use. In such cases protecting your personnel web history and passwords are utmost important.
Having separate profiles keep your bookmarks, themes, and settings separate from everyone else’s. It keeps all your data private and others don’t get to know what you search or which sites you visited from that computer.
Creating Profiles in Google Chrome Browser
- Click the wrench icon on the Chrome browser toolbar.
- Select Options.
- Click Personal Stuff on sidebar.
- In the Users section, click Add new user.
- A new window for the user appears, with a special icon for the user in the top corner. Here, you can sign in to Chrome with a Google Account to associate the account with the user. Once signed in, all the bookmarks, apps, extensions, theme, and browser settings for the user will be synced to the account.
Switching Between Different Profiles
To switch between multiple profiles, click the icon on the top corner of the Chrome browser window. It will display a list of users. Select the user you want to switch to. However, no list will appear if you only have one user associated with the browser.
Synchronizing Profile Data
This feature enables synchronization of data (browser bookmarks and other personalized settings) with Your Google Account. Sync helps you to update your personnel stuff between multiple computers and other devices. Anything you update on one device instantly updates everywhere else. If you sit on a new computer, just go to the Wrench menu and select “Sign in to Chrome,” and you will get all your data right there instantly. Isn’t this good?
